Routine Care

Dentist in Etters and Lewisberry, PA

Routine dental care is an essential piece of the puzzle when developing proper oral health. This includes cleanings, and checkups with your dentist to make sure your mouth and teeth are healthy. Maintaining a healthy mouth goes farther than just preventing cavities and gum disease. Poor oral health can increase the risk of other health problems including heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

When you come in for your check-up, we will take x-rays, polish your teeth to remove plaque and stains, and discuss any treatment recommendations with you.

During your exam

During your exam, we will clean and polish your teeth as well as examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, bite problems, and any other oral health issues that may arise. The dentist will also discuss your oral health habits and guide you on best practices for maintaining and improving your oral health.

Dental X-Rays

You may receive dental x-rays during your dental exam depending on your age, current or new dental conditions, and any circumstances that may require your dentist to see what’s happening under the surface. A dental x-ray is a safe and less invasive way for your dentist to examine what’s going on in the underlying jaw and bone structure of your mouth, as well as identify any tooth decay or issues that are harder to spot with the eye.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO GO TO THE DENTIST?

Visiting your dentist on a routine basis is very important in preventing and identifying major oral health issues like cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. When you have routine care instead of only going to the dentist when there is an issue, your doctor can properly identify any problem areas and provide you with the proper daily care advice so you can avoid much larger dental problems. This allows your doctor to catch any dental issues sooner rather than later, which makes repairing or correcting issues much easier for you and them.

When you visit us for your first appointment, we’ll discuss a schedule for your regular checkups and cleanings. This is typically a semi-annual visit or every six months, but depending on your care plan this schedule may vary.
